I always look forward to Christmas, but this year it arrived and disappeared all too quickly and in my case was spoiled by my new medication.
I'm three weeks into taking a diabetic control called Lyxumia which you inject once a day. Common side effects are nausea, the shits, dizziness and cold like symptoms and I've had em all.
I never know which ones I'm going to suffer each day until about 2 hours after I inject the stuff. Christmas day was ruined by violent bum gravy from 4pm onwards. Apart from that my lunch was perfect especially the beef which had been hanging since late November.
I may have to go see the doctor and see if they can change the medication if this keeps up. The side effects should wear off it says in the instructions. I had a reasonable day yesterday with just a bit of nausea around 7 last night.
I had to cancel out Wally the Welder and Pat coming over both Satrurday and Monday, their presents are still here. Didn't see my brother either those presents are here too.
So much food gone to waste too, stuff I bought in for a hungry welder, pork pies, ribs etc. I hate wasting food.
Feeling so low in myself does leave me wondering if it's worth all the effort. I know Pat is in agreement, her and piglet didn't have a very nice Christmas either and she's said next year they are going to book a cottage somewhere well away from it all, a tempting thought on my part as well.
Apart from when we used to go back to Birkenhead when I was a child to saty with family, I've never been away at Christmas.
As for entertainment on TV, it sucked BIG TIME.
I think the BBC gave up on comedy in favour of Miranda and Citizen Khan. How either of those shows got commissioned is beyond me.
As I've been home during the day, I seized the opportunity to order some more black sunflower seeds for you know who ! Thirty kilos. Sounds a lot, but I've gone though almost that much in three months or less.
At some point I have to get outside and clear up the carpet of discarded husks.
This morning was delighted to see a robin on the balcony, I've not seen one up her in 2 winters, they only come up here when it's cold as they are ground feeders, but this morning the ground is frozen. I put meal worms out special and the little bugger's not come back.
No shortage of greenfinches. Hey Bill Oddie, if you want to come do a documentary about greenfinches, I had a truck load of em living here there days. All fat and happy on kilos of black sunflower seed.
You know, if I let the feeders go empty, they bang on the window to let me know they're hungry, at their beak and call I am.
