Near impossible to drag a smile out of Bob the Butcher at that time in the morning. Begrudgingly he put his Santa hat on and posed with my Christmas beef which will now hang til I collect it in a couple of weeks.
As you can see, his niece has been at his hair again. This time it's Ronald McDonald orange. Remember, he had it red white and blue for the jubilee and he's had a red Mohican.
It's been a long week, partly cos I had some sort of virus later in the week which gave me the shits. I was due at the hospital for a CT scan on Friday, but was woried I'd got the same virus they have been talking about on the news a lot where they say you shouldn't even visit the doctor's surgery for fear of passing it on.
I called the hospital on Friday morning and they said they'd prefer me not to go, so the appointment is now on the 27th.
Did a couple of nice pics on my early morning walks.
Temperatures fell below zero late in the week, so I felt it time to fetch the babbies indoors, even though for the past few weeks theyve been sheltering in their little tent.
I noticed how healthy the one flytrap is, as shown here by the pink traps.
Quite often by this time, the traps have gone black and the dorman plant is storing energy for next year in the rhizome.
I put this one in the kithen as it was nice and sunny, did this pic and went to do something else.
Next day, I noticed three of the traps were closed (this one included)
The traps are now occupied !
Coincidentally, I'd had an invasion of meat flies. I've no idea where from, as I've made sure any food rubbish bags had been taken out.
I got rid of most of them by opening the window and letting the cold kill them off, but carnie had other ideas and bagged two big juicy ones.
Although the plant will be in dormancy now, the trap mechanisms are still operative and the energy will be stored giving the plant a kick start in the spring.
Having a Christmas brekky with Darlo on Thursday. It's just the same sort of brekky we always have, but I've got some Christmas crackers from last year when no one turned up and I've bought a nice Christmas tablecloth (paper) from Poundland to jazz things up a bit.
Got to wrestle the sofa out into the spare room to make room for the Christmas tree Wireless Tone's missus got me in the week. I was quite amazed to find it is a rooted tree in a pot, so with a little care I can repot it come spring and it will grow out on the balcony.
Walking and weight loss go on. I was down to 122.6 on Thursday (Christmas target is 122).
Saw the diabetic specialist in the week and he was delighted with my weight loss and my bloods. Took me off Sitagylptin leaving me only taking Metformin for the condition.
Oh well, per ardua ad astra as the RAF says...
