Not all famous people are tw*ts

All I can say is top marks to Matt (Little Britain) Lucas for being a top class twit !

What I mean is, as a famous person who's into all this twittering, he takes time to respond if someone tweets at him.

Right now, Matt is in rehearsals for the stage version of the life and diary interpretation of Joe Orton, in Prick up your Ears.

He's playing Joe's partner of 16 years, Kenneth Halliwell, who is also the chap who bashed Joe's head in with a hammer in August 1967, ending the life of a brilliant playwrite.

I'm a huge fan of Orton's work and can quote his wonderful  vitriol at the drop of a hat. 

The film of Prick up your Ears, was superb, with the chameleon like actor Gary Oldman as Joe, Alfred Molina as Kenneth and Vanessa Redgrave as Peggy Ramsey, Joe's agent. Now, add Alan Bennett who did the screenplay and you know you've got something special on your hands.

My favourite work is What the Butler saw, but of course I love Entertaining Mr. Sloane (I recently picked up the DVD of the film for pennies on Amazon).  Beryl Reid as Kath was incredible.

So, in my second attempt to understand just what Twitter is all about, I did a bit of research this week and started following one or two well known people, who I like of admire.

Stumbled across Boy George, someone who I knew before he was famous.  I dropped him a tweet and he sent me a cold 4 word response.  I suggested we chew the fat of 30 years ago by e mail and since then, fuck all.

All I said to Matt was he will make a great Halliwell as long as he doesn't make people laugh and Matt sent me three responses, including an apology for getting my twit name wrong.

I don't really expect people in the world of entertainment to beat a path to my door on Twitter or any other medium, so when someone takes the time to do so, it's a nice buzz, especially when it's from someone as funny as Matt.

I tweeted back tonight telling him I love Marjorie Dawes.  I hope he passes on my regards.

I'm sure he's on something !

Wally's web monkey !

One good bit of news for me at least, is I don't have to piss about going to that hospital next week.  My wafarin level was 2.3 whereas it's only been around 1.6.  My reward being I don't have to go there for a fortnight.

Seeing as I don't have doctors appointments or hospital tomorrow, I am going to have a lazy day.

Been messing around as Wally's web monkey part of today.  He can't half be a bossy little tyke when he wants to... 

A news story that really made me smile today (and it's been on the BBC several times.

He dodges the fare and puts his feet on the seats...  Casper the cat who lives in Plymouth, regularly gets on the number 3 bus and rides the complete route (which takes about an hour).

Wet again...

Got wet this morning, yuk.  Had to pop down to Sick House for a blood test, then I had to wait in the rain for a bus down to town and even though there was a shelter, it was raining so hard, I got wet.  OBC says it's raining down in Padstow too.

Spent an afternoon with the welder yesterday.  Leaves you feeling kind of punch drunk, especially when he tells you Sharm El Sheik is in Israel (when it's in Egypt).

Later, he was going on about the gun and knife crime on UK streets these days.  Then he made some reference to how you will find it more when there's a sex shop and a kebab shop on the street.

Wondering where the logic came from for such a comment, I just chipped in "Aye, there's a recipe for disaster, a sex shop and a kebab shop next door to each other".  I mean they come rolling drunk out of the pub and if they don't want one, they want the other !

I'm hobbling round like an o'de un.  The moment I woke up this morning, I felt something in my left leg and a second later I was howling like a stuck pig with cramp.  Really sets you up for the day, that does.

The unstopable Mays !

One of my early morning routines is to catch up on what my little posse online are up to.  Yesterday, found odd bod and Fez Master Steve Mays walking 5 miles into town so he could have his morning fix at the Coffee Zone (that must be good coffee).  His car was broke and so, he set out at 6am with a note on his back which read "A latte for a ride".  Round here, that would be really asking for it considering the number of red lights in windows just up the hill in Caldmore.  Steve got away with just a few odd looks from "big strong men in pickup trucks" (his words).  In fact, you can read the account here http://www.smays.com/default/2009/07/how-far-would-you-walk-for-a-coup-of-rocket-fuel.html  and judge for yourself whether he is:

    a) In serious need of some caffeine aversion therapy

    b) Just misunderstood

    c) Unaware that you can get a taxi at 6am just about anywhere

I've been summoned over to the welder's factory to do something on the puter.  He's obviously broken something or other.  He doesn't know it yet, but I have saved myself the bus fare into town and back by not going out this morning and so will want to pop in on one so I can get a couple of mid-week essentials.

Got a right telling off yesterday via OBC.  When I was down in Padstow 2 weeks ago, the guy on the next boat came by and was sporting a sandal and socks combination.  He posed for a picture (which I featured here), but because he hadn't been featured on the sandals and socks site, he'd chucked his teddy out the pram, especially when he saw that Kenny Ball had jumped the queue and become a Soxer of the week.  I've never had people arguing to become a featured soxer before...

Anyway, to put things right, I've put him on there just below Kenny.  Hope he's happy about that.
