Wow !

Death and destruction from beginning to end, the Daleks are back !

Action all the way and a cliffhanger ending.

I wasn't sure about the return of Davros (creator of the Dalek race), but the actor playing him does so with a brooding malevolance, simply chilling.  I am certain little kids would have been cowering behind sofas all over the land.

And now, we have to wait a whole seven days to see what happens next, bummer.

A preview

Lucky me

Made one of my rare visits to the Lidl supermarket down the road, mainly because I am out of everything and needed some stuff to get me through the weekend.  Did I have a result.  They have discounted their fresh meat, so I picked up some nice pork loin chops for a daft price (I've not been to see Bob the Butcher this weekend).

Got some nice treats, including crayfish tails and some salmon en croute with spinach (that was only £ 1.39).  and a similar thing using Atlantic Pollock (like Cod), but with a herb sauce.

Cult of skaro Yesterday, I relaxed the calorie counting for the first time in two weeks, so I could have a pint with Charlie Chalk and Darlo.  Mr. Chalk bought me a 3D Dalek poster which is very impressive.  Only thing about having beer when you've not been drinking it for a few weeks, is the effect it has on you.  In times of old, I would regularly drink five or six pints and not suffer any sort of hangover, but when I woke at 6:15 this morning, I was supposed to be walking down into town to collect a parcel from the post office.  No chance of that, I felt like I'd been run over by a truck.  I'll have to pop down and get it on Monday, seeing how I didn't get up until 9:30 (most unusual for me).

The welder only left on his holidays yesterday afternoon and I've already had one picture message on my phone of the cottage where he's staying and three phone calls.  The latest one (whilst I was in Lidl), to tell me he'd found OBC's boat in the harbour and had been to say hello.  As I already mentioned, OBC returns today but is going back down later in the week, so they're going to get together then. I expect my ears will be burning.  They should get along, as they are both engineers and both pretty loopy.  I dare say Wally will wear his best socks and sandals !

Mr. Chalk and I have postponed our trip to Birmingham on Monday due to lack of funds.  In a way it's better, because it's a foregone conclusion that beer would have been part of the proceedings and yesterday was my "reward" day.

Only a few hours til the Daleks return...  Yippee.

Scanning as I was a Dalek prices on E Bay and the likes, I see the makers Character Options, have reduced their 18" voice activated Dalek to £ 49.99 and horror of horrors, I see they do a black one (Dalek Sec) too !  I really am going to have to change my name to Robin Banks.

As for old Red above, I wonder how long it will be before we see a radio controlled version of him ?

Are we there yet ?

You know how excited kids get when they know it's time to go on holiday.  They pack their bags well in advance, everything cept the kitchen sink and the all important bucket and spade.

Well, that's exactly how it was last night, when I rang the welder.  He was packing his bag (doesn't go til Friday), searching out a variety of socks to contrast with his holiday sandals, charging up his little Fuji so he can take lots of pictures, ooh, he was so excited.  I bet he won't sleep on Thursday night.

He's off to Padstow in Cornwall which incidentally, is where OBC currently has the boat parked up.  I've suggested they meet up, but I don't know whether OBC will be there at the same time.  For example, he went off down there yesterday and comes back Saturday, but the welder is going Friday and of course, getting hold of OBC by phone is nigh on impossible these days, because he keeps dropping his phones overboard !

Saw McBark yesterday, he'd got a favour to ask.  Could I take a look at the system he was given by the bank to process credit cards.  I said sure.  I didn't realise I was going to be handed 2 carrier bags full of tat, including an Ingenico card processing terminal, which I had to carry home.  Just call me pack hoss !

There's a load of stuff included and I've got to plug it into the phone line, so God knows who's credit card's going to get charged what and where.

Whilst our funds don't run to holidays, Charlie Chalk and I are planning to meet in Birmingham on Monday.  It's a city I tend to steer clear of,  but it will give me the opportunity to get some pictures to put on Flickr.

When he went over there on Monday of this week, he had a pint in the pub Bill Clinton visited when the G8 bunch were in town.  I think that's why they think they can charge £ 3.02 for a pint of Fosters gash !

If we have a pint, I'm hoping we can find somewhere considerably cheaper.

I don't know which one's worse

Wally Firstly, for some time, whenever the Welder goes somewhere, I get pictures on my mobile of whatever he's eating or drinking (in this case quite blurred due to an excess of Glenfiddich).

Now it would appear Charlie Chalk has caught the bug.  With him, whenever he goes anywhere and sees anything to do with Daleks, I get a picture.

Today, he's gone into Birmingham (paying £ 3.02 for a pint of Fosters) and he saw a 3D poster (with a 3D price of twenty quid too).

Ahead of it being leaked by the family, a confessional OBC called me yesterday afternoon, to announce his hat trick of destruction.  He'd tipped a glass of wine over his laptop whilst it was switched on.  Whether it will still work when it's dried out, is yet to be seen.
